Dr. Patel Transforms A Smile With Invisalign

Kara Wilson or K’Dub from 95.5 The Beat is not only a successful radio personality, but models in print ads and fashion shows.  She takes her career seriously and felt her smile was holding her back.  After doing some research on the web and looking over my reviews, she came to me to find out the best way to improve her smile.  I presented many different options to her including traditional braces, porcelain veneers, whitening and Invisalign.  She decided on Invisalign because it wouldn’t be noticeable in her print ads and didn’t affect her speech on air.  Kara was my most challenging Invisalign case to date.  It took only 9 months for Kara’s treatment to be complete.  I’m thrilled with the results and so is she!

How Janeime Got Her Smile Back – A Front Tooth Dental Implant

When our hygienist Janeime tells our patients who find themselves in the situation of needing a dental implant, that she knows exactly how they feel, she really does.  Her front tooth had a root canal many years ago and then suffered a fracture.  While she was a little nervous to lose it, she knew she had to do something because it continued to get loose over time.  Dr. Patel referred Janeime to a periodontist who specializes in implants.  He extracted Janeime’s tooth and placed the implant that same day.  A temporary crown was placed and the result looked very natural.  Once the implant had healed completely and integrated into the bone, we took an impression and a permanent, porcelain implant crown was placed.  Janeime’s smile has never looked better!

No Prep Veneers. The latest advancement in Cosmetic Dentistry

J1Jennie Tavares 002

This patient was born with one of the most common problems with her smile, peg laterals or small laterals. These are the teeth on either side of your two front teeth. Even though she had bonding, she was never happy with the way they blended into her smile. Dr. Patel used No Prep Veneers to create an incredibly natural and beautiful smile.  No Prep Veneers are similar to Lumineers but the esthetics of our No Prep Veneers are superior to Lumineers.  They are thin, translucent and natural looking. They blend seamlessly with your natural smile and best of all, they can placed without anesthesia or shots because there is no drilling or tooth reduction. Immediately after she was able to show off her new smile.

Accidents happen and when they do, Dr. Patel fixes them.

Cosmetic dentistry has come a long way in the past few years. Advances in the dental field allow us to create beautiful, natural looking smiles even when something traumatic happens. This patient came to us after a bit of horseplay resulted in a fall and a broken tooth. Dr. Patel was able to create a beautiful, natural looking tooth with cosmetic bonding that same day. Even though his smile looked great, he decided to do porcelain veneers as a more permanent option. Cosmetic Bonding is a great option for chipped, broken and stained teeth because it’s quick and affordable. Porcelain Veneers are a step up from bonding, are very life like and blend seamlessly into your natural smile. As you can see, the results are beautiful.

Cool Implant case for front tooth.

Here is a great case that we just recently finished.  Steve had lost his front tooth (which had a root canal and crown) due to a fracture of the root.  We decided to extract the tooth and immediately place an implant and temporary crown.

After about 2 months we removed the temporary, took and impression and had the lab fabricate a custom abutment (post that goes in implant) and all ceramic implant supported.

The end result is a beautiful crown that no one can tell is an implant crown.

10 Tips for Choosing a Cosmetic Dentist in Atlanta

There are a lot of great dentist in Atlanta.  How do you go about choosing the right Atlanta Cosmetic Dentist?   Here are a few tips which might help.

The American Dental Association does not recognize cosmetic dentistry as a specialty, so any general dentist can claim to be a cosmetic dentist, making it difficult to determine which cosmetic dentists you can trust. Here are some tips to keep in mind when shopping for a cosmetic dentist.

  1. Training: A trained cosmetic dentist will have taken postgraduate courses in porcelain veneers and other cosmetic dental procedures, like Invisalign, laser dentistry, or all-white restorations. Do not be shy about asking your potential dentist about his or her cosmetic studies.
  2. Associations: The most well known association for cosmetic dentists is the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. While membership in the AACD does not ensure that a dentist is good, it does tell you that the dentist takes cosmetics seriously enough to invest in membership.
  3. Payment Options: Since insurance does not cover cosmetic smile enhancements, you will probably want to work with a dentist who accepts credit cards or offers payment plans. Many cosmetic dentists work with CareCredit, Chase Health Advantage, or Wells Fargo for third party patient financing, as well.
  4. Scheduling: What are the dentist’s office hours? Do they suit your schedule? Will the dentist treat your entire family?
  5. Location: Cosmetic dental enhancements can require multiple visits. Is the dentists office convenient to your home or work?
  6. Time Requirements: How long will it take the dentist to finish your smile makeover? Does he or she have any vacations planned during your treatment?
  7. Technology and Anesthesia: Dentists interested in modern procedures often have advanced technology, such as digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, chairside monitors, and a dental laser. Ask your potential dentist about the technology in his or her office. You may also want to find out what kind of anesthesia or sedation is offered.
  8. Comfort: How do you feel in the dentists office? Is the staff friendly? Do you feel like you can ask questions, and do you like the answers you receive?
  9. Before-and-After Photos of Real Cases: An experienced cosmetic dentist will have an album or online gallery of before-and-after cases for your review. Ask the dentist to show you a case similar to yours.
  10. Previews: Does the dentist offer digital imaging or wax ups so that you can see the predicted results before you commit to treatment?

Don’t let just anyone try their hand at improving your smile. While cosmetic dentistry done correctly is safe, effective, and long lasting, when performed incorrectly, any dental procedure can cause problems. Be bold about interviewing your dentist. Some dentists offer a free cosmetic consultation so that you can meet and discuss your expectations. Once you find a dentist that meets most of your criteria, proceed with an exam and listen to his or her treatment plan. Discuss financing and scheduling. Make sure you feel comfortable and confident in the dentist’s office. A beautiful, strong, comfortable smile that’s built to last can improve your self-confidence and open doors of opportunity you never knew existed.  Please feel free to contact our office for a complimentary smile consutlation and to review some of our incredible before and after photos.

Dr. Patel Delivers Dentistry to the Need in the Himalayan Mountains

I just got back from an incredible mission trip to the Himalayan mountains in North India with a group called the Flying Doctors of America!  What an amazing group of people.  We travelled to extremely remote villages along the India and Chinese border.  The people that live in these areas are isolated from everywhere for six months of the year due to the weather.  There were 4 doctors and 4 dentists and we took all of our own drugs and dental equipment.  I took out about 400 teeth.  Obviously not cosmetic dentistry!  Sometimes the clinic were set up in remote community centers and sometimes we just did the extractions outside as you see in the photos here.  It was truly rewarding giving back to people that didn’t have anything in the world.  They were all so appreciative and generous.  We ended the trip in Dharamsala India where the exiled Dalai Lama lives.  We didn’t get to see him but we did get to spend some time at his temple.  I am truly blessed to have been able to take this trip and next year hope to set up my own and go back to India to Gujrat which is the state my grandparents are from.
